The 2009 Seminar of the Creative Floral Arrangers of the Americas was truly a wonderful gathering of creative and talented designers. From the inspirational speakers to the dynamic designs in the Kaleidoscope display, the Seminar was an exciting and informational time for all. The officers and committee chairmen worked diligently to create this special and unique time of learning and sharing. We all extend a hearty thanks to Marilyn Litvack for her leadership for the past three years and to Marilyn and her dedicated team we say GREAT JOB! Now Peggy Nuse has become President of CFAA and we look forward to great success during her administration. We know the CFAA organization will maintain its high standards and its enthusiasm for new ideas. It is thrilling to see that CFAA is committed to a growing role in the world of international floral design. The members of CFAA are looking forward to participating in the World Association of Flower Arrangers (WAFA) Flower Show in Boston in 2011, and we hope that the excitement of that upcoming show will boost the numbers and the enthusiasm of our own membership. This promises to be one of the most oustanding floral design events to ever be held on American soil. Each Seminar seems to be even better than the year before, and plans for the 2010 Seminar are well underway and humming along. The Featured Designer will be Jaqueline Headecker, AIFC, an award-winning floral arranger who has achieved international recognition in her field. She has been in the floral industry for the past 29 years and was given 8 awards for her achievement at the first workshop she attended by Flowers Canada, at the University of Guelph. She represented Canada twice at the prestigious Interflora World Cup Competition, once as a coach in Detroit, USA, and the second time as a competitor in Japan. She has also won the Canada Maple Leaf Cup Competition in Toronto, and was 2nd runner up at the America's Cup Competition in Montreal. Most recently, she was invited to participate in the Singapore Garden Festival in 2007. She has also received many honors and awards from Trade and Education Associations, throughout her career. Her unique and creative designs have beenn featured in International Florist publications, such as Flowers &, FTD Florist Magazine, Florist Trends, Canadian Florist Magazine, World Flower Artists, German Florist Magazine, and Japan Flower Shop magazine. Jacqueline, who is a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD), currently serves on the board of the SAIFD Student Competition, and is past President of Flowers Canada, Toronto Chapter. She has designed in many floral design shows throughout the world both as a competitor, lectuer and judge in countries including USA, Germany, Japan, Austria, New Zealand, Taiwan, Puerto Rico and Singapore. Ms. Headecker currently resides in Ontario, Canada, and when she is not working in Hong Kong or other parts of the world, sheenjoys working in the Wisteria Floral Shop in Thornhill. The shop belongs to her daughter, Debbie Headecker. She fell in love with floral design when she attended her first Ikebana show and through her love of flowers and nature has shared that joy whenever and wherever she can. The 2010 CFAA Seminar is shaping up to be a fabulous event, one that anyone who is passionate about floral design will thoroughly enjoy.
